...With An After-Dark EXPLOSION Of Small Combos In 12 Restaurants & Lounges! THE JAZZ ZONE after-dark lounge circuit is the ACJF's answer to the absence of any serious Jazz hang in today's Atlantic City. The Jazz Zone will take the Jazz deep into the A.C. night at a DOZEN restaurants and lounges on up to 3 WEEKENDS as part of the CHRIS COLUMBO JAZZ CENTENNIAL. SIX HOURS of continuous live Jazz will jam in 6-12 locations simultaneously, creating a "Jazz buffet" for the tens of thousands of Jazz fans who will be fortunate or savvy enough to be visiting, living or working in "The World's Playground" when The Zone takes place. Having The Jazz Zone for only one night at a time will create a sense of urgency that has not existed in mid-town A.C. in a long time, and will virtually guarantee an enthusiastic response. The proposed dates for THE JAZZ ZONE in 2002 are: *JUNE 16*, *AUGUST 10* and *SEPTEMBER 12*. Mid-town Atlantic City is home to far many less haunts than it was is the past, but there are enough outlets left to make some noise for thousands of patrons each night. All of the venues listed are convenient all modes of ground transportation; just minutes from The Boardwalk or just a short walk, drive or Rolling Chair ride from each other. THIS UNPRECEDENTED EXPLOSION OF LIVE JAZZ IN A.C. for the first time since the 60's will be a perfect complement to the daytime activities of "The Biggest Free Outdoor Jazz Fest In The U.S.". Also complementary to the daytime itinerary, The Zone will showcase many emerging bandleaders and their ensembles, in the up-close and in-your-face nightclub atmosphere that has been just a memory in this town for too long. All Jazz Zone venues will feature 1 ensemble for 3 sets between the hours of 9pm-1am or 11pm-3am, and patrons will be encouraged to purchase a "Jazz-Pass" which will give them unlimited admission to all of the venues, while avoiding any delays of paying individual cover charges. We anticipate that this will create some serious lounge-hopping, and reward our host venues with an marked increase in food and beverage revenues during the designated nights. The Jazz Zone venues represent a cross-section of the city's culinary variety, too, with foods ranging from Italian to Continental, Soul Food to Chinese, plus assorted bar foods and appetizers. Because we will be presenting bands from a broad spectrum of cities and genres, The Jazz Zone will draw thousands of "Jazz-heads" from points near and far, North, South, East and West, much to the delight of our savvy Jazz Zone venues and Sponsors.
